The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

After graduating from Penn State in the spring of 1979, I moved to Houston, Texas in July to begin working for Texaco as a geophysicist. At Texaco, I received training in the interpretation of seismic and well log data to generate subsurface maps with the goal of finding prospects to drill for oil and gas. My work over the years has included both onshore and offshore exploration and field development in the offshore and inland waters. I lived in Houston until 1984 when Texaco transferred my division to New Orleans, La. While working in New Orleans, I met a wonderful, handsome and talented geologist named George Moate, who also worked for Texaco. In 1988, we got married. We both continued working for Texaco in New Orleans and were transferred to Houston in 1999. In 2001, Chevron acquired Texaco. A benefit of the acquisition was that very attractive separation packages were made available which allowed George and me to retire early. What a blessing! In 2003 we left Houston, and in 2004 we moved to Johnson City, in eastern Tennessee. We love living in a beautiful area where we can enjoy four seasons (unlike the Gulf Coast) and have access to great hiking in the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee. We have no kids - we just have one beautiful, sweet and very spoiled cat.
